NEWS...........Want & Need live in Stockholm from September 1st
Mejan Labs, in a collaboration with the British organization Furtherfield present a number of artists and organizations using technology to communicate a political message. The participating artists are Heath Bunting, C6, Kate Rich, Andy Deck and Eva and Franco Mattes (0100101110101101.ORG).
C6 continue to tour their project Want & Need, shown both inside and outside the gallery, the Wants & Needs of both an attending and passing audience are compiled to present a snapshot of stockholm desires.
Heath Bunting was one of the pioneers within net art but has lately more been working with different social and political based projects in Bristol.
Kate Rich shows Feral Trade where she trades coffee over social networks. Andy Deck shows Glyphiti where the audience participate through drawing and interacting with the software over Internet. Eva and Franco Mattes (0100101110101101.ORG) shows their project vaticano.org a spoof official Vatican web site.
In addition it is a chance to see the premier showing of Furtherfield's and Mejan Labs film 5+5=5 which will contribute to the context of the exhibition. Participating artists and film makers are C6, Mongrel, David Valentine, Chris Dooks, Furtherfield, Michael Szpakowski, Simon Poulter, Anya Lewin.
In a less polictical but more site specific activist theme
c6 produced a art work that questions the post modernist role of art
today with their stencil "This is not a role model" (pictured
below). Duchamps pipe smoking face juxtaposes text with a Magritte feel.

The shop front window of the gallery was used so that the passing public had 24 access to the system.
