Apologies if your checking the site to find out about the next Dotmasters print release, there has been a delay. I won’t say too much now, as we are still all trying to fix the faults that mean that the release is delayed ie. reprinting the edition again….i know, a pain, but these things have to be right. The new release date will be next friday the 18th. Any way below is a taster of the forth coming print with out the hand finishing, the full painful story will be told when it drops next week. Sorry folks, but good things come to those that wait…..apparently.
The above is the printers proof so colours may vary to the finished print, it will be an edition of 50 hand finished with the TOY hand finished in mini rollered in red acrylic on arches 88 white 300gsm cotton rag 56cm x 76cm at £80. All prints will be double tubed to prevent damage during postage.
The history of the piece is that it was painted for the Nuart Landmark series two years ago and proved a firm favorite with the people of Stavanger.

So the deadline looms for all the sideshows to be loaded into the shipping container for its two month trip by sea to Japan. Standing at 4.9m ‘Knuckle Sandwich’ is the sister High Striker for last years 7.5m ‘Old Boney’. The steel framework is still to be attached to the painted facade as is the bell and mechanism. Its going to be a long hard week with the kids striker still to be finished. Fuji Rock her we come!

Below is the new middle sized high striker, ‘Knuckle Sandwich’
the empty scrolls will have the usual rating of strengths from loser to hero. Standing at 4.9m its the little sister of last years 7.3m ‘Old Boney’ . Together with ‘Dem Dancing Bones’ all three will form ‘The Bone Yard’ the ultimate test of strength. check out ‘Old Boney’ or here

Loads happening this month. Works underway for two new High Strikers (test your strength machines) for Fuji Rock Festival in July….I know ages away, but the shipping container leaves mid May so better get a wiggle on. Above is the new Kids striker ‘Dancing Bones’ at 3m high it may be a little easier for our littlest hammer swingers to ring the bell. ‘The Knuckle Sandwich’ the sister to the 7.5m Old boney come in at a modest 5m. Hopefully you’ll see them all together at Glastonbury 2013, look out for the ‘Bone yard high strikers’ at a festival near you!
A great night out at Chrome & Blacks 3rd birthday last night, a motley crew assembled, fore warned that although paint had brought them together, this was not the time and place. A load of familiar faces, even if no one knew eachothers real names. After a raffle and some impromptu break dancing (jeez i haven’t seen anyone pull those moves on a night out for a decade) It was off to the shop for a lock in surrounded by paint and fragrant smoke. Well done Lads! Bloody great night from Londons premier Art suppliers….ahem.
Never seen the complete Belton range without gaps in the racks….beautiful !
Been waiting for this to come out since last summer’s Nuart. One of my favourite pieces from last year’s festival. What didn’t make the cut was the frantic 2 hours were Hera was caught at the top of a very broken down cherry picker, while an international crew (an Irish man, a English man, a Canadian and an East German….i know it sounds like the start of a playground joke) tried to follow the Norweigian instructions to rescue her. Of course filmed by the amazing Saft films.
So that was a lesson in repetition, but the eagle has flown, excuse any delay…. it took us a bit by surprise. Every print went double tubed, with so many orders overseas it seemed best to take the extra cost on the chin rather than deal with all the extra shipping costs for damaged stuff. It was all of a bit of a learning curve for this our 1st self produced print. It was always going to be a bumpy ride, If your in the UK then expect your print tomorrow before 1pm, in other parts of the world its 3-4 days. Thanks for all the orders and of course your support. There are other prints scheduled for the year so check back in at the end of May to see whats next.
Sickboy and I hit up a mates flat in central London a couple of weeks ago. Sickie was filming a short film to promote his show in San fran this week at white walls . Nice vid, although there is a blink and you will miss it shot of me painting a wall in the front room. I bet the shows a corker, if your in town post a dream or two in the post boxes he’s dropping round town, or drop by the show bound to be a crazy mix of installation and great paintings.
Well yesterday was mental! The response to the release of Dreams of Louie V print edition outstripped any expectations that i had, taking 10 hours to sell out completely. Thanks to everyone who bought one! It’s going to take a week or so to wade through the orders….my poor local post office, i can imagine their faces already, as i walk in with 36 tubes to send out Special delivery.
Thanks once again to everyone who bought one!
Since last summer i have been getting requests for this image The Dreams of Louis V to be released as a silkscreen print. It was a very popular canvas from last years Outside in show in Stavanger, Norway. The various colours in the florets would have meant multiple screens at an incredible cost.
The solution seemed to be a hand finished silkscreen edition. Printed by those nice chaps down at Another fine mesh on Arches 88 blanc cotton rag stock, 56cm x 76cm (22″ x 30″) with a deckled edge all the way round.
Then hand finished in the studio in depths of Barking
An edition of 36, signed and blind stamped by The Dotmasters,
£55
you can buy them here
Its a long story as to why i made this….its kind of a experiment come commission, A take on the indian devotional paintings of shiva in the same style. A kind of devotional altar…Thanks to Erwin for the help with lighting it!
1.4 x 1m x 0.25m Wooden construction light with 12v LED lights.
Its a bit beyond my photography skills but here it is again in it’s night mode
